MATCH RACE - Grade 3 (Fri-Sat) CMRC Summer Classic (A) NOTICE OF RACE 1 ORGANIZING AUTHORITY The Organizing Authority (OA) for the Chicago Match Race Summer Classic (A) is the Chicago Match Race Center. 2 VENUE The venue will be on Lake Michigan. 3 EVENT GRADING The event is an ISAF Grade 3 Match Race. 4 PROVISIONAL PROGRAM 4.1 Schedule of events a) July 15; Registration by appointment only +1 312-515-1685 b) Crew weighing will be held during registration c) A welcoming reception may be announced in a formal invitation to race d) July 15; Practice will be offered after the day of racing is complete, time permitting e) July 15; Initial skippers briefing immediately following the press conference f) Daily skipper briefings will be held at 0800 on racing days g) The intended time of the first attention signal each day will be 0900 h) Daily de-briefs will be held after the last race of each day 4.2 Unless excused by the OA, attendance at the following is mandatory: a) Initial briefing for skippers and crews b) Daily briefing, for skippers c) Regatta dinners, for skippers and crews d) Prize giving for the finals skippers and crews 5 SKIPPERS ELIGIBILITY 5.1 Only skippers invited by the OA will be eligible to enter this event. 5.2 Invitations will be issued by the OA. A maximum of ten (10) entries will be invited to this event. 5.3 The registered skipper shall helm the boat at all times while racing, except in an emergency. 5.4 An eligible skipper shall confirm acceptance of an invitation in writing (email is acceptable) and pay the amounts specified in the letter of invitation. 5.5 The amounts specified in the letter of invitation shall be paid at or before registration.
6 ENTRIES 6.1 The skipper will be considered entered on completion of registration, crew weighing and the payment of all fees and deposits. 6.2 Entry Fee of $400 must be paid before a team can sail in the practice session. A non-refundable entry fee (bond) of US$ 200 shall be paid by the dates set forth in the letter of invitation. 6.3 ISAF Sailor ID Each skipper participating in the Chicago Match Race shall provide his or her ISAF Sailor ID for ranking purposes. 7 RULES 7.1 This event will be governed by the rules as defined in the 2009-2012 RRS, Appendix C. 7.2 If there is a conflict between the NOR and the Sailing Instructions, it will be resolved in favor of the Sailing Instructions. 8 BOATS AND SAILS Tom 28 Max boats will be provided. 9 CREW (INCLUDING SKIPPER) 9.1 The number of crew (including the skipper) shall be four (4) or five (5) on the Tom 28 9.2 Maximum crew weight will be 350 kg when sailing the Tom 28. 9.3 Only registered crew shall sail in races. 9.4 With the permission of the OA representative, a designated alternate may replace any member of a team aboard a boat before any race of a given flight.
10 EVENT FORMAT 10.1 Stage 1: A single round robin. 10.2 Stage 2: Quarterfinals with top ranked skipper from the round robin being able to choose the opponent or seeded by position in round robin. 10.3 Stage 3: Semifinals based on winners from the quarterfinals. Losers from Stage 2 will continue to sail in a bracket or round robin series to determine 5-8 finish positions. 10.4 Stage 4: Finals: a knock out series. The winner from stage 3 will race and the losers from stage 3 will race. This series will be decided by the first team to score two (2) or three (3) points. 10.5 The OA may change the format, terminate or eliminate any round, 11 COURSE 11.1 The intended course will be a windward/leeward/windward/leeward course with starboard rounding, finishing downwind. 11.2 Leeward gates may be used. 12 ADVERTISING The OA reserves the right to require competitors to display advertising on their hull, sails, or clothing.

14 MEDIA, IMAGES AND SOUND 14.1 The OA and/or its sponsors may require television personnel and equipment to be carried on board while racing and may require competitors to be available for interviews. 14.2 The OA and its sponsors shall have the right to use any images and sound recorded during the event free of any charge.
